sometimes you gotta rargh...
ha. ha ha ha. ha ha.
wow do people have egos. sometimes i fear i'm too self absorbed and then i see other people and i realize i'm not. or at least i'm not the worst.
sometimes i can't decide whether i want time to stand still or if i want it to hurry up and pass. some aspects of life are so wonderful ... so amazing ... that i never want them to end. but other times i realize i'm stuck in a hellhole that has a 99% chance of ever improving because mr. harry is a damn cheapass. what to do what to do.
tv is boring. unless something funny is on and that is rare. i like news, too ... but the thing i like the most about it is when i can discuss things with people and people don't like to discuss things with me because that would mean they would have to know what on earth is going on around them.
pretty sure the news could report that the earth would come to a standstill and we would all die in 24 hours ... and as long as it is only on the news ... life would continue as normal for most people i know. no newspaper. no internet news unless it's on the sports site. no television news unless it's on my show and that's usually half attention.
meh. i guess knowledge just isn't the path everyone chooses. they say ignorance is bliss. but it's also annoying. don't you want to know that iraq is/was (?) on the verge of civil war. and if you know that, don't you question why? and if you know that, don't you want to know why that shrine really was that important to the shi'ites? i dunno. i would but that's just me.
and, if you pay attention to the news, you may want to get out and have your opinion somewhat heard through elections. i don't know about you, but if i go on another cruise and the security of the port from which i'm leaving has been outsourced ... i sure as shit want to know. not to say i won't still go on the cruise ... i'm a pasty ass girl ... but i still would like to know. and if i did have a stronger opinion on that issue. i would like to know that my voice is heard slightly. again ... just my self-absorbed bastard ass.
sorry. knowledge is power. and whether you have a negative outlook of the news or not, it will give you that knowledge ... and thus ... the power.
'smy opinion. 'sall.

I'm with you on everything you just said. It's really lame that even a huge amount of people that vote don't bother staying informed on world events. That's kind of disgusting. And a number of people that do try to keep up with the media don't do it with any sort of discretion, they just hear what they're told and don't bother scrutinizing any of it.
If you're bored here's some semi-amusing articles about how the media's blown up the meth epidemic beyond reason (not that meth's a good thing):

Basically, the government's pushing that meth is a big disastrous wildfire spreading across America, but the fact is according to the latest numbers available, meth use is down, less kids in high school are trying meth, and people aren't dying from meth in the numbers the government claims they are. But the media's for the most part played up everything the government wants to push, without really digging into it at all. So much news just turns into propaganda because of that, and not enough people try to see through it.
Sorry for the long comment. I'm a rambly bitch.
